The Ministry of Defense of United Kingdom is investigating pictures showing a service member of the British forces posting with his thump up beside the dead body of a Taliban fighter in Afghanistan.
A spokesperson for the ministry of defense of United Kingdom described the actions of the soldier as inappropriate.
According to reports, the pictures were taken at Camp Bastion in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan in September 2012.
At least two US soldiers were also reportedly killed following the intense fight which left dozens of the Taliban militants dead.
The attack was carried out by Taliban militants in US army uniform and at least six US Harrier jets were also destroyed following the attack.
The pictures shown by BBC on Friday evening, displays a member of an RAF squadron based Bastion, kneeling with his thumb up beside the corpse of a Taliban fighter.
In a statement, An RAF spokesman reiterated their “zero-tolerance policy on the mistreatment of deceased enemy personnel.”
The statement further added, “We can confirm that the incident is currently subject to an ongoing RAF Police investigation and therefore, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.
